THANKS to the businesses who donated to our Silent Auction!
Here's a shout-out to the following members of our community who so generously donated goods or services to the Silent Auction at your PTO Fall Carnival (and to Amber Mahoney and her committee for securing all these amazing donations!).
We invite you consider visiting the establishments that are a good fit with your values, and telling the Manager how appreciative you are of their donation to your Mountain Valley PTO Fall Carnival. CORRECTION on Fall Carnival proceeds
I apologize that I misreported the Gross Fall Carnival proceeds as Net proceeds.
The teachers' amount remains the same ($1400) but the PTO net was $2400 instead of $3100 as reported.
Which, folks, is precisely why I am NOT the Treasurer...
So, let's try this again...
Teachers earned $1,400
PTO earned $2,400
TOTAL = $3,800!
This is a shout-out to Mrs. Jane Webb, our Treasurer who has dedicated countless hours to keeping our finances pristine and keeping our Secretary on the straight and narrow!
Thanks, Jane!

Bring your entire family for a night of great food and fun!
Our Fall Carnival Chairperson, Ms. Amber Mahoney, and her amazing committee have worked tirelessly to create an evening of celebration of the Fall season and great memories for your family. Come join us!
Thank you SO MUCH to those who pre-ordered your activity and meal tickets. Additional tickets will be available for sale tonight.
GHOULISH GOODIES: Forget cooking dinner tonight, as food and treats will be for sale including pizza, hot dogs, sodas, chips and more.
PHAN-TASTIC FUN: Game tickets are only $.25 each! Activities will cost from one to four tickets each, and include carnival games, a huge jump house, beauty salon with hair coloring, face painting and more!
BONE-CHILLING BASKETS (in a good way!): You will be stunned at the incredible baskets the Fall Carnival Committee are putting together! Thanks so much, everyone, for your donations to the grade-level baskets. As you may or may not know, the teachers received ZERO dollars for classroom activities this year, so all supplemental classroom fun has been paid for out of the teachers' own pockets. Let's show them our support and appreciation by bidding generously on these grade-level baskets. The themes are:
Preschool: Family Art Night
Kindergarten: I Love Chocolate
First: We All Scream for Ice Cream
Second: Family Movie Night
Third: Family Game Night
Fourth: Cooking with Kids
Fifth: Winter Fun
Sixth: Making Memories
SCREAMING-DEALS SILENT AUCTION: You'll be stoked at the screaming deals you'll find at our phenomenal silent auction! Once again, Ms. Mahoney and the Committee have outdone themselves in relentlessly seeking throughout the community to obtain donations of goods and services for our auction. Over 25 items of high quality and great value from area businesses will be up for auction. You have to see this lineup to believe it! Airline tickets, hotel stays... we're talking amazing items up for grabs!
No money is required tonight at the auction-- just your agreement to pay within one week. All auction proceeds benefit the PTO in our effort to raise money for the Preschool/Kindergarten playground and assist with MVE needs.
Thank you, again, so much to our Fall Carnival Chairperson, Ms. Mahoney, and all her incredible committee for the countless hours of hard work they've put into this carnival, and to those who are volunteering to help with the stations tonight. We know times are tight and appreciate any support you can give to our carnival.
We appreciate you, our fabulous MVE community, and we'll see you tonight!

Straw Maze Fundraiser Thru Sat. Oct 30
The Straw Maze fundraiser is in full swing! It is a BLAST and we hope you'll take the opportunity to enjoy some old fashioned fun with your family this week at the Straw Maze in Archer. A yellow Straw Maze flier was sent home with each student last week. Please dig the fliers out from the pile of school papers, as you'll need them!
Straw Maze info and text message coupons: www.strawmaze.com/rexburg
How it works:
Bring one flier per student to the Straw Maze. When you pay for your family's admisssion, all child admission fees (as verified by one flier per student) will be donated back to Mountain Valley PTO! That's right, we get 100% profit from the students' admission fees! If you're taking a group of kids beyond your family circle, make sure to pick up more fliers at the school office. There is no limit to the number of attendees or the number of times you can pay to go through the maze. And, this fundraiser is all week through Saturday!
So, get out there and be a-mazed at how hard you'll laugh when exiting four different times-- back at the entrance! (OK, I resemble that remark....)
Directions:
Go north from Idaho Falls on Hwy 20 towards Rexburg. Turn right (east) at the Shell Gas Station located one mile north of Bear World. Follow the large neon yellow signs directing you from there to Archer, then south of "Big Jud's Country Diner".
Hours:
Through Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010
Wed-Thurs: 5 pm - 10 pm
Fri: 5 pm - midnight
Sat: 3 pm - midnight
The Straw Maze is haunted on Friday and Saturday after dark. Parent discretion is advised.
Prices: original haunted
12+ yrs $6 $8
4-11 yrs $5 $6
0-3 yrs FREE FREE
Payment is accepted as cash, Visa, MC or Discover.
Weather:
The Straw Maze does not close for inclement weather, as it is 10-15 degrees warmer inside the maze!
We hope you'll enjoy an afternoon of Fall fun at the Straw Maze before it closes this weekend. Thanks for your support!

New Alternating PTO Mtg nights: Next mtg is THURSDAY Nov. 4
Hello, Mountain Valley PTO Members!
This is to inform you that the PTO Officers have decided to schedule our Mountain Valley PTO Meetings on alternating nights between the first Wednesday and first Thursday of each month. We anticipate this will allow more members to attend who have other commitments on Wednesday nights.
Thus, our coming meeting will be on the first Thursday night of the month: November 4. The time will remain the same at 7:00 pm in the school Media Center.
We understand that the Thursday night may newly prohibit a number of you from attending, which we truly regret. However, we are confident that this change will expand the base of communication and support from our valuable members. If Thursday nights don't work for you, we hope you will continue to attend bi-monthly on Wednesday nights, and appreciate your continued support.
Therefore, our new PTO Meeting schedule is as follows. And we'll send reminders so everyone stays on the same page! (You may also wish to bookmark the PTO Meetings tab of this blog for quick reference, as well.).
Thursday, November 4, 2010
Wednesday, December 1, 2010
Thursday, January 6, 2011
Wednesday, February 2, 2011
Thursday, March 3, 2011
Wednesday, April 6, 2011
Thursday, May 5, 2011
Thank you on behalf of all the PTO Officers and Event Chairpersons for all your terrific help and enthusiasm!

The instructions sent home has 3 copies of the Pizza Purchase Form on one page: one for your family, and two to share with family, friends and groups who would like to help.
- As only one form is needed per order, you may list more than one student on the form.
- If your student is in Kindergarten, please write AM or PM by the teacher’s name.
- There are more forms in the MV school office if you need more (we hope so)! Please see the terrific coupons on the back of the form!
In addition to their generous donation, Domino’s is also donating these terrific prizes:
- Each child whose name is on a submitted Purchase Form will be entered into a drawing for 2 FREE 2 Topping Pizzas of their Choice!
- The classroom with the greatest number of students participating will receive a FREE Pizza Party whenever the winning teacher chooses!
WOW! Just think: If each of our 200+ MVE families enjoy a $15 pizza today, Wednesday, that would be at least $3000 gross sales, of which 15% would yield $450 for Mountain Valley Elementary!
Get a little crazy and order two pizzas, and some sides and drink-- heck, it's like Friday with
no school tomorrow!
Get a little wild 'n' crazy and buy Domino's pasta for lunch at the office, then pizza for dinner, and then more pizza with movies after the PTO Meeting! Your kidlets will think you've lost it... and will love you forever.
We have a goal of making at least $500 from this event, and hope you spread the word, and enjoy this fundraiser!
Thanks for your support in whatever way you can! :)
